Offer Supportive Resources and Advocacy
Address Legal and Social Needs for survivors: Survivors often deal with ongoing legal and social challenges, including asylum processes, employment restrictions, or housing insecurity, which perpetuate trauma. Therapy should include case management or referrals to legal, housing, or job placement services to stabilise survivors’ external circumstances.
Community Support and Group Therapy: Isolation can be a significant issue for some individuals, and integrating support from trusted communities or peer groups can offer a sense of belonging. Group therapy with other survivors can also provide mutual support and reduce feelings of shame.
