ESD (Empowerment Self-Defence)

  Empowerment self-defence is a violence prevention education tool which aims to reduce the incidence of abuse by integrating a program that teaches a variety of skills to be able to recognise and prevent abuse. 


The aim of the tool is to help you to recognise abuse, coercion and boundary violations, it also helps you to communicate assertively and advocate for yourself when under stress as well as to help you physically protect yourself from violence committed by anyone. 

Rebuilding Autonomy and Trust

    

Programs like ESD encourage open communication, build self-advocacy, teach practical skills, and foster healing. By combining Trauma-Informed Therapy with Empowerment Self-Defense, MWN delivers a groundbreaking treatment—likely the first of its kind in both the UK and Albania. This approach, led by mental health professionals, blends trauma recovery with a holistic, body-mind empowerment treatment plan tailored to each individual’sneeds. Together, Trauma-Informed Therapy and ESD have had a profound impact, promoting deep healing and resilience among trauma survivors.

You can reclaim your autonomy through empowerment self-defence. This approach goes beyond teaching physical defence techniques; it helps you rebuild your connection with your body and redefine your sense of power and boundaries. We have seen how self-defence can transform individuals relationship with their body-from viewing it as a source of pain and vulnerability to recognising it as a tool of strength and capability.

  

  Self-defence training provides you with practical skills that increase your sense of safety and control. But beyond this, it allows you to reclaim ownership of your body in a positive way, reinforcing your right to say “no” and set boundaries. This process helps to shift feelings of helplessness and shame, into empowerment and confidence. By integrating these practices into therapy, we can support you in internalising these new, positive experiences and transforming them into long-term resilience.
